This Privacy Policy explains how Rate Shopper Pty Ltd (ABN 58 653 611 717) (“RateShopper”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and discloses personal information in Australia under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Our licensed credit partner is Straw Financial Services Pty Ltd trading as You’re Welcome Finance (ACL 504512) (“You’re Welcome Finance” or “YWF”). RateShopper is not a lender and does not provide credit advice or credit assistance. Where credit assistance is provided, it is provided by YWF.

2. What We Collect

When you use our website or complete a form, we may collect the following types of personal and financial information:

Personal information we collect:

First name, last name
Date of birth
Contact details (email address and phone number)
Citizenship or residency status
Depending on what you do on our site, we may collect:
- Identity & contact: first and last name, date of birth, email, phone, state/region.
- Loan intent & scenario: product (home, car, personal), loan type (new purchase/refinance), amount/deal size, property usage and type, purchase price and deposit, buying/refinancing stage, objectives and important features.
- Financial profile: estimated credit score (self-declared), employment type, income band, citizenship/residency, expenses and existing debts (including loan balances and rates for other loan type refinancing), current mortgage balance and rate, property value.
- Preferences & consents: legal consent, marketing opt-in/out.
- Technical data: device, browser, pages viewed, cookies, IP address and analytics identifiers.
We do not obtain your official credit report. If a credit report is needed for an application, that is handled by You’re Welcome Finance (and later by the lender) with your authority.

Product interest (e.g. home loan, car loan, personal loan)
Loan size and objectives
Property usage (owner-occupier or investment)
Property type, purchase price, deposit, mortgage balance, current rate and rate type

Current debts (e.g. credit card or personal loan balances, interest rates)

Date and time of enquiry
Device type, IP address, browser, and session behavior
Page visits, form submissions and cookies (see section 8 below)

3. Why We Collect This Information

We use your information to:

share your details with You're Welcome Finance to prepare personalised, indicative options based on the details you provide. Also so they can review your profile, provide credit assistance if requested, and conduct LenderCheck (a deeper, score-safe policy/serviceability review) and assist through to settlement;

communicate with you about your enquiry and next steps;
send marketing communications only if you opt in (you can opt out at any time);
run our website, analytics, quality assurance, and comply with law.

Indicative options are not offers and are subject to lender assessment and policy. If you later apply, the lender may conduct a credit check.

We collect personal information directly from you when you:

Submit a form or enquiry on our website
Interact with our website or digital tools
Communicate with us by phone, email or SMS

We may also receive updates from You’re Welcome Finance about the progress of your enquiry.

We do not sell your personal data. However, your information may be accessed by:

Our authorised team members and credit representatives
Licensed credit professionals operating under our ACL partner
IT, analytics, and customer service providers
Legal, accounting or regulatory authorities where required by law

All access is strictly limited to the purpose of providing our services under our licensed arrangement.

We may receive a referral fee or commission if you obtain a loan through our licensed credit partner. This does not affect your rate, fees or loan options.

6. Marketing Communications

We send marketing only with your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us. Service emails about your enquiry will still be sent.

7. Data Storage and Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We retain information only for as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law.
